Hello my faithful blog readers,
I promised another report for last week and here it is. School is pretty good. I do almost all the classes. My subjects are: German, Biology, History, Geography, Sport, English, Art, Economics and Law and Maths. I am also taking a beginners course in German on Wednesdays. The subjects that I donrsquo;t take are all the languages, i.e. French, Italian, Spanish and Latin. These subjects are usually at the end of the day so I have Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons free to go home every week. School on those days finishes at about 1:30. And at about 4 on Mondays and Thursdays.
All my teachers are really nice and I think that this is a pretty good class. They are all younger than me but I have graduated so I really donrsquo;t mind that much. I donrsquo;t care about the work that we do in class, I mean it doesnrsquo;t matter whether it is simple or hard because generally I have already done it. The only reason that I can think of to go up a year level would be to... Well... Basically date someone. As I am not interested in that, I really donrsquo;t mind the younger class. They are all really nice after all. For now anyway, I was talking to one of the exchange students with AFS who has been here for six months and she says that her class talk about her all the time when she is standing right there because they think that she canrsquo;t understand them. I have my beginners course with her on Wednesday along with another girl who has also been here for six months. So I am the newbie and the only exchange student to come in January, well in this school anyway.
So yeah that is about it for school. Nothing much else really happens. We have lunch in the Mensa [canteen/tuckshop/whatever you wish to call it] and the lunch is actual made meals. $8.10 a day for lunch and my host family gives me $50 a week to pay for it.
I went shopping for school stuff around Wednesday last week, I bought almost $30 worth of stuff but it should last me at least half the year. Hopefully. Their library is nice, I am reading a book called Catch-22 currently. In English, because speaking German is hard enough.
Last weekend was fun. On Saturday Jerren [the guy I met last week in Luzern] and I went to St Gallen, we were originally going to Rapperswil but we decided on St Gallen instead. It was fun, we walked around and chatted for a while. He tried to teach me some German but I have no skills at all. I think I only remember a few of the things he tried to teach me. But I appreciate that he tried, after all Irsquo;ll get there and become fluent bit by bit. Hehe. I can now buy credit in German if I need too. Thanks Jerren. And there was this beautiful church that we went into. It was huge and had a beautiful painted ceiling, a huge organ and stained glass windows [because churches arenrsquo;t churches without stained glass windows.] We also sat in a park for a while trading Year 12 stories. Gosh, I miss you guys all so much but talking about it was fun. We were also looking for a leather jacket for me. I want one but really canrsquo;t convince myself to buy one. Which is a good thing, we didnrsquo;t find any that I really felt the need to buy anyway. We then came back to Winterthur and walked around a bit and then he headed back to Luzern [which is a beautiful city, I would have to say the most beautiful city that I have visited so far].
Sunday was good. I slept in for ages because I didnrsquo;t need to be anywhere until 12. At 12 I had to be in Zurich to meet my Rotex godparents [random question aimed at Dad, can you find out whether Australia/Queensland has a Rotex? Thanks.] and my godbrothers and sisters. What was really great was that I knew all of the people that had the same godparents as me. 2 were from my language course [Maddy and Daniel] and Seetha was someone that I made friends with on the Grindelwald weekend. So I thought that was really awesome. My godparents were nice, Rotex godparents are ex-Swiss exchange students who are there to look after a few people each year who come to Switzerland on Exchange. So each of my godparents was an exchange student, one went to Canada and the other went to New Zealand. We walked up a few hills and had lunch in Zurich before we all headed home. Didnrsquo;t do much for the rest of Sunday, just chatted to Chris [another exchange student from Australia] on MSN.
So well, today is Wednesday, school has just finished and I am home now. I didnrsquo;t sleep well last night, I woke up quite a few times. The red numbers of the alarm clock next to my head are imprinted on my brain. 11:34, 1:02, 3:05, 4:32 which sucks but I was able to get back to sleep so I guess I got an alright amount of sleep.
So yeah Irsquo;ll let you know if anything fun happens.
Wait hold that thought, I just got a package Thank you to my Rotary Club for the banners. I have yet to meet my hosting club here in Switzerland so I will be sure to bring them along. I appreciate the thought.
Love you and miss you all
Xoxoxo
